Born 6 January 1804, in Lyons; died 23 October 1870, in Longpont (Aisne).

Painter.

He was a pupil of Fleury Richard at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyons, where he won first prize for painting in 1820. He worked with Ingres in Paris and Bonnefond in Rome before travelling in the East and finally settling back in Paris. After exhibiting various paintings in
