Costanzi learned painting under Benedetto Luti, and was admitted to the Accademia di San Luca in 1741. He often collaborated with Jan Frans Van Bloemen (known as Orizzonte), painting remarkably delicate figures (staffage) in the latter's landscapes. His painting of St Camille in the
