Kenyon Cox studied at the McMicken School in Cincinnati, Ohio; at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia (1876-1877); in Paris with Carolus Duran; and at the École des Beaux-Arts, Paris with Alexandre Cabanel and Jean-Léon Gérôme (1877-1882).
