André Antoine Crochepierre was a pupil of Pierre Léopold Philipes in Villeneuve-sur-Lot and William Bouguereau in Paris. He painted the large canvases hanging in the council chamber of the town hall in Villeneuve-sur-Lot. His work reflects his admiration for the 17th-century Dutch masters in its technique, style and light effects,
