Ernest Dagonet studied under J.-P. Laurens and Moreau-Vautier. His main works were: Christ in the Tomb, which was awarded a commendation in 1896; Animals, a group sculpture in bronze which was awarded the bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle in 1889; and bust and medallion sculptures in ivory.
