Pellegrino Danti was a member of the Dominican order. He trained under his father (the goldsmith Giulio Danti) and his aunt Teodora. His brother was the sculptor Vincenzio Danti. Danti was also a cosmographer, mathematician and architect. In Florence he painted Ptolemy's Maps in 57 paintings for
