Pierre Dautel trained with Maugendre, Villers, Barrias and Coutan. He won the Grand Prix de Rome in 1902. He regularly participated in the Salon of the Société des Artistes Français, of which he was a member: he won a third-class medal in 1907; second-class medal, 1910; first-class
