Paul Daviaud worked very much in a figurative style at the start of his career, and exhibited in Paris at the Salon of the Société des Artistes Français: he was made a member, was commended outside the competition and won a first-class medal in 1939. However, in 1949 and 1950 he was exhibiting abstract compositions at the Salon des Réalités
