Adrien Dax was a revolutionary activist, which brought him into contact with the Surrealist movement, although he did not formally join it until 1949. He has refused to countenance a pictorial career, and works in total solitude.

He practises automatic creation, bringing to it some new solutions, such as relief impressions and interpreted posters. In his paintings,
