Born 14 May 1700, in Coulston (Wiltshire); died 15 April 1788, in London.

Painter. Portraits, animals, flowers.

Mary Delany was a pupil of the miniaturist, Bernard Lens, and was first and foremost a fashionable portrait painter. She also executed free copies after the old masters. The publication of her correspondence almost a century after her death brought great success.
