[not available online]Augustin Dumont entered the École des Beaux-Arts in 1818, and studied with his father Jacques-Edme Dumont and Cartellier. In 1821 he came second in the Prix de Rome, and in 1823 he took first prize. He won a first-class medal in 1831, was awarded the Légion d'Honneur in 1836, and in 1838
