Jacques Auguste Fauginet was a pupil of Gatteaux. From 1831 he exhibited busts, statues, statuettes, groups, animals and other sculptures at the Salon, being awarded a third-class medal in 1838. The collection of the Comédie-Française owns a marble bust of the French playwright Marivaux by Fauginet.
