Heinrich Funk made his début in 1829 at the academy in Düsseldorf, where he was a pupil of J.-W. Schirmer. After this he worked with Lazinsky, Pose, Rethel, Rustige, Teicho and Zwecker. He began exhibiting in Düsseldorf in 1833. In 1854 he was appointed professor at
