Gavazzeni studied at the Accademia Carrara di Belle Arti in Bergamo under Scuri. When he returned to his native region, he carried out some major works for Count Paolo Paravicini di Morbegno. He painted a number of frescoes in Sondrio Cathedral, which were commissioned by the archpriest, who went on to become Bishop of Parma. In 1900
