Jakob Gensler was a pupil of W. Tischbein in Eutin (Schleswig-Holstein), and also studied at the academy in Munich (1828) and the academy in Vienna (1830). In 1841 he travelled to Holland and Belgium. From 1830 onwards, he exhibited in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Dresden. He
