Painter, draughtsman. Portraits, landscapes, still-lifes.

Studied from 1967 to 1870 under Lecoq de Boisbaudran and developed a thorough grounding in draughtsmanship. His personal vision developed under Boisbaudran's instruction and his exposure to the work of some of the latter's pupils and fellow artists. That said, Gérardin went his own way, seeking inspiration from established artists, above all
