Born 5 May 1835, in Berlin or Wesel; died 31 May 1898, in Rome, committed suicide.

Painter. Historical subjects, genre scenes, architectural views.

Trained by Bendemann, Geselschap was a member of the academy in Berlin from 1882, succeeding Oscar Begas as senator of the academy in 1884. In 1883, he was granted a professorship and received the Berlin gold medal in 1886.
