Japanese, 18th – 19th century, male.

Born 1752, in Kyoto; died 1811.

Painter, draughtsman. Landscapes.

Goshun’s first teacher was a rather obscure painter, and at the age of 20 he went to study painting and haikai (a poem with 17 syllables) with Yosa Buson (1716-1783), the literati painting master. Quite naturally, he began to paint in Buson’s style. He lived in Kureha from 1781 to 1786.
