Born 14 December 1821, in Königsberg (now Kaliningrad, Russia); died 1895, in Berlin.

Painter. Mythological subjects, allegorical subjects, historical subjects, portraits.

Graef, a pupil of Th. Hildebrandt, Schadow and Sommer, visited Paris, Vienna, Italy, England and Scotland. He went on to become a member of the academy of art in Berlin and received awards in Vienna, Berlin and Philadelphia.
