Painter, illustrator, pastellist. Figures, portraits, genre scenes.
Nicolae Gropeanu studied in Bucharest with Th. Aman and C. Stoncesko and also with Doucet in Paris. He had a successful debut at the Salon of 1895 with Marguerite at Two and participated in the 1900 Exposition Universelle. He was one of the founders of the Salon d'Automne.
