Belgian, 20th century, female.
Born 1890, in Charleroi; died 1974, in Boitsfort (Brussels).
Painter, collage artist. Figures, portraits, landscapes, still-lifes.
Marthe Guillain studied in the studio of Cormon in Paris, and also in Istanbul. Like many other Belgian artists she travelled to the 'colonies', notably visiting the Pygmies in the Congo between 1950 and 1953.
