Charles Guillaumot, an architect to the intendancy, was placed in charge of the construction of the Porte Dauphine in Sens. He designed eight medallions and low reliefs which were executed by the sculptor Poquet and completed in 1782. His designs are kept at Sens Museum. Guillaumot was subsequently appointed administrator of the Gobelins Tapestry Works.
