Hareux was the pupil of Adam Levasseur. From 1868 to 1908 he exhibited at the Salon and then the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris. He won the Rosa Bonheur prize in 1904. His paintings include Bièvre Plain, La Bérarde, Flood
