Erich Hauser was apprenticed as a steel engraver in Tuttlingen from 1945 to 1948. In 1964-1965, he was a pupil at the fine arts academy in Hamburg. He executed numerous monumental commissions for public buildings - in Freiburg, Stuttgart, Constance and Wuppertal, for the foyer of the theatre in Bonn and the Kubus gallery in Hanover.
