Born 17 April 1683, in Antwerp; died 21 August 1726, in Brussels.

Painter. Religious subjects, portraits, genre scenes.

He was the son and pupil of Jan Helmont. In 1711, he was accepted as a master in Brussels.

This artist drew his inspiration from Van Dyck's style, and ranks honourably within the Flemish school. His works decorate several of the churches in
