[not available online]Auguste Joseph Herlin was a pupil of François Souchon. He succeeded Reynard to become curator of the Musée de Peinture in Lille, and exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1861 to 1876. He was made a member of the Légion d'Honneur in 1891.
