Adolf Hildebrand's father was the famous economist Bruno Hildebrand. As a young boy, Adolf showed a lively interest in art, particularly sculpture. After studying with Kreling in Nuremberg and Zumbusch in Munich, he went to Italy in 1867 and again in 1872 to study the classical Italian
