David Hitchcock studied under William Bouguereau and Gabriel Ferrier in Paris and worked in Honolulu. He joined the Salmagundi Club in 1904. He mainly painted landscapes in the Hawaiian islands, which were annexed by the USA in 1898 and became one of the USA in 1959.
