David Humbert de Superville was the son of a protestant pastor. He studied art in Italy. In 1997-1998, the Musée Fabre in Montpellier and the Institut Néerlandais in Paris held exhibitions of his work entitled Virtuoso and Scholar, DPG Humbert de Superville (1770-1849)
