Huygelen was a student at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerp and of Thomas Vinçotte at the Hoger Instituut there. He won the Prix de Rome in 1900. His work was shown at the great Brussels Exhibition in 1910. During World War I, he stayed in England. He
