Ernst Gustav Jaeger's sculpture includes young male nudes, busts and animals (monkeys, horses, bulls, stags, dogs). He was steeped in the study of prehistory and so fascinated by the excavations of sites in the Dordogne that he attempted a sculpture of 'Primeval Man',
