Louis Jacque was a pupil of the painters Jean-Pierre Lemieux and Borduas. He took part in the Montreal Salon du Printemps from 1956 to 1960. He had solo exhibitions in Montreal in 1958, 1960 and 1963-1964. His abstract paintings, consisting of large symbolic forms in graduated shades of colour, featured in the group exhibition Six Montreal Painters in Paris in
