A. Garth Jones trained in Manchester and, towards 1893, in Paris with J.P. Laurens and Benjamin Constant. He made pen drawings for Contes de Haute-Lisse and Contes de la Fileuse which appeared in the Revue Illustrée in Paris. He also designed the frontispieces for editions of works by Goldsmith, Coleridge, Swift, Keats, and Marco Polo, all of which met with success with book lovers.
