Painter, lithographer.

Xaver Kaniewski studied in Warsaw and St Petersburg, where he became a member of the academy. He then moved to Rome for a time. He painted a number of portraits of the Russian imperial family. In 1846, he settled in Warsaw, where he taught at the academy of fine arts
