Edmond Charles Kayser received guidance from Eugène Carrière but studied in museums and was mainly self-taught. At first an artistic affinity led him to associate with Léopold Lévy, Linaret and Vergé-Sarrat, but later he spent time with Despiau, Dunoyer de Segnonzac, André Lhote, Charles Dufresne and Zadkine.
