Esther Kello was the daughter of Nicholas Langlois, a Huguenot who had taken refuge in England. She illuminated, or provided calligraphy for, a large number of books destined for the Scottish kings in Edinburgh. She produced some much-admired manuscripts, in particular the Psalms of
