Born 17 July 1819, in Fliess; died 3 November 1881, in Munich.


Josef Knabl was a pupil of Franz Renn. He settled in Munich around 1840 and quickly became successful as a sculptor of religious pieces, receiving commissions from many cities, such as Augsburg, Passau, Eichstatt and Marienberg.
