Painter, engraver, draughtsman. Portraits, genre scenes, landscapes, architectural views, seascapes.

Købke was one of the foremost artists of the Danish Golden Age, praised in particular for his treatment of light and nature. He studied at the academy of Copenhagen (1822-1832), and with Lorentzen and the painter C.W. Eckersberg.
