Painter. History painting, religious subjects, portraits.

Christian Köhler pursued his studies at the Berlin and Düsseldorf Academies where he later became a teacher. In 1860, for health reasons, he had to find a more favourable climate and went to Montpellier. He spent the summer on the shores of Lake Geneva
