Born 12 February 1746; died 15 October 1817, in Solothurn.


Tadeusz Kosciuszko was the general-in-chief of the Polish army in 1794. He painted a number of watercolour landscapes. During a visit to America, he painted the portrait of the President the USA, which bears the following inscription; Thomas Jefferson, or a Philosopher, a Patriot and a Friend, Drawn by his Friend
