[not available online]Jan Adam Janszoon Kruseman was initially the pupil of Cornelis Kruseman, before working in 1822 in Brussels with David and Navez. He then moved to Paris, but returned to Amsterdam in 1825, where he was appointed Director of the royal academy of sculpture in 1831.
