Édouard Lanteri trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Pierre-Jules Cavelier and Eugène Guillaume. On the recommendation of Jules Dalou, he came to London in 1872 to work as a studio assistant to Joseph Edgar Boehm.
