Johann Lasinsky, along with Lessing and J.W. Schirmer, was one of Germany's foremost independent landscapists. He quickly gained success and in 1837 he executed paintings in Koblenz for the Emperor Alexander. He then went to Cologne and finally settled in Düsseldorf in 1850.
