André Lauran studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyons and was awarded a travel grant in 1946. From 1951 to 1953 he lived in the USA. His paintings are dominated by light; his southern sun destroys contours while his Paris tones are subdued in a palette of pale, harmonized tones.
