Lavallée-Poussin was certainly a descendant of Marc-Antoine Restout. He was the pupil in Paris of Descamps and Pierre, and was a member of the Académie in 1789. In Rome he painted landscapes in the style of Poussin, whose name he adopted. L. Puyot
