Robert Lawrie engraved religious subjects, genre subjects and excellent portraits. An extremely talented artist, he exhibited at the Society of Arts from 1770-1776, and was rewarded by the Society of Arts for his skill in the printing in colour of mezzotint. He stopped engraving when he went into
