Born 3 February 1775, in Strasbourg; died 29 February 1848, in Toulouse.

Painter. Military subjects, portraits, landscapes.

An officer in Napoleon's army, Louis Lejeune primarily painted military subjects. He juggled the demands of a military career and an artistic one. From 1795 to 1798 he studied under the landscape painter Pierre Henri de Valenciennes whilst serving as General Berthier's aide-de-camp.
