Draughtsman, engraver.

Longacre became famous for his engraved portrait of Andrew Jackson, after Thomas Sully, produced in 1820. From 1834-1839, he published National Portrait Gallery of Distinguished Americans, with James Herring and with the collaboration of other engravers.
