Painter. History painting, genre scenes, portraits, landscapes.

Lorentzen was a pupil at the Kunstakademi in Copenhagen. He travelled from 1779 to 1782 in Holland, Belgium and in France. He copied celebrated artists while on his travels, including the work of Rubens. Some time after his return, he painted
