Philippe was the son of Laurent Magnier, with whom he studied. On 30 March 1680 he was accepted as an academician with a marble medallion portraying: St Thaddeus. He was made assistant professor on 20 December 1692 and became a professor on 5 January 1704. Philippe Magnier worked mainly
